Summer in the Cotswolds

Summer in the Cotswolds

Happy 21st of June all! For those of you who are not aware, today marks the first official day of summer and we think there’s no better place to be at this time of year, than right here! Just think about it — rolling green hills, ancient stone villages bisected by streams and beautiful ‘middle of nowhere’ country pubs. The Cotswolds is the quintessence of summer in English countryside.

Don’t believe us? Just check out this gallery that we think captures what summer in the Cotswolds really means.

One of the great advantages of being in the Cotswolds is that you’re never far from great local produce.
Here’s Bibury, tumble down villages with roads that can barely accommodate the width of a car, it’s that slower pace of life that makes summertime in the Cotswolds great.
“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats” and there’s plenty of water in the Cotswolds.
Nothing really beats a pint in a Cotswolds pub right before your Sunday roast.
Except for perhaps drinking that pint in one of the UK’s best pub gardens.
That late evening sunset across the hills.
Fields of rapeseed lighting up the horizon.
All those dogs!
Here’s Cirencester, one of those Cotswold towns with streets that look like they’ve barely changed in hundreds of years.
Cottages like these.
And houses like these.
And of course there’s 20,657 ha of woodland designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just waiting to be explored.
Living movie sets, waiting to be discovered. Castle Coombe, setting of War Horse.
Where you can stroll through endless buttercup filled meadows.
And roam amongst all the sheep.
