Happy Friday everyone! We hope your weeks have been good, or at least passable. It’s the last weekend before the clocks change and the nights draw in, so we recommend you make the most of the promised autumn sunshine over the next couple of days. Here’s all the latest pub news, and some suggestions for some of the best things going on at the pub and around the Cotswolds.
Following the success of the first meeting of the Maytime Inn Wine Club, we’re pleased to say we’ve got another one planned for Friday the 25th of November. Our wine expert mate, Alberto, will be supplying a selection of wines he’s perfectly paired to a specially curated banquet style set menu. He will introduce a wine for sampling with each course, all included in the ticket price. Plus at the end of the meal, you can buy any of the wines you liked, at trade prices! Find out more here.
Spookyard Daytime Halloween Family Fun Event
Starting tomorrow until the 28th of September is the catchily named ‘Spookyard Daytime Halloween Family Fun Event’ at Over Farm. The perfect thing to take the kids to over the half term break, each child gets to pick their own pumpkin from the patch and carve it. Plus there’s a load of shows and attractions such as a ‘quad train ride’ and ‘corn cannon’ whatever those are.
Travel to Middle-Earth
No, not New Zealand, Oxford. The Bodleian Libraries to be exact. Their exhibit Tolkien: Maker of Middle-Earth, explores the legacy of the author, poet and linguist who wrote The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. On display are also a selection of Tolkien’s early abstract paintings.
New Years Eve
This will really upset those of you out there who scorn every time we mention making your Christmas bookings soon (though that is also a good idea). But, we have recently announced our New Year’s Eve Party plans. Food will be served from 6pm and we will be closing at 2am, so there’s plenty of time to have a dance to the brilliant Vince Freeman who will be playing from 10pm. Book now to avoid disappointment.
