Maytime Weekender 15th of March 2019

Hello, you lovely people and welcome to Maytime Weekender! While it may not seem it outside, next week is the start of spring, and soon we will have bright, warm and long lasting days (at least in theory). So, what is new with us? And just how should you spend your weekend? Here’s everything you should know…

 Last Call: Wine Club

Tonight is the night. From 7pm we are hosting the third instalment of our Wine Club series of events, and no it’s not one of those clubs you join by posting off a form found in a magazine along with a cheque, it’s much better than that.

This evening to the delight of our wine expert Alberto, we will be celebrating Italian wines. For £60 per head, you get a five-course meal, plus a selection of wines introduced by our expert. To sweeten the deal even more, at the end of the evening you can purchase bottles of various wines introduced on the night, by the bottle or case at trade prices.

If you like the sound of all this, then please give the bar a call to see if we have any places remaining!

Vote for us!

We have made it for the shortlist of ‘Pub of the Year’ at the Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards. So, if whether you’re a local or an occasional visitor we’d really appreciate you giving us your vote, it only takes a couple of seconds.

New Menu

We’re also excited to let you know that we have launched our spring menu for 2019. We’ve included such seasonal specialities as Cotswold lamb belly, rump & kofta with creamy mash and miso glazed aubergine, stir-fried Chinese cabbage and mushrooms. And retained the classics such as pie of the day and our legendary wild boar burger.

Chasing Darkness

No this isn’t a Joseph Conrad sequel. For all of your star-gazers out there (and those of you looking for something to do with the family, that is conveniently close to the pub) you might be interested in this talk with the respected astronomer, Will Gater at Guiting Power Village Hall.
