Maytime Weekender 10th of August 2018

Maytime Weekender 10th of August 2018

A very happy (if rainy) Friday to you all! While it might not be the optimum weather to sink a gin and tonic in the garden, it’s certainly right for hunkering down in a cosy pub with a pint or a bottle of red. So, just what is going on at the pub and in the Cotswolds this weekend? Here’s our little rundown:

Go get lost

Despite the showers today, tomorrow’s forecast looks clear. And what better way is there to spend a sunny day than lost in the middle of a field full of fodder? That’s right, the maize maze is back at Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park. They’ve also got ‘live milking’ at the moment and loads of other agricultural themed shows and activities, so it’s you know, fun for the whole family.

Make your own spoon

Have you ever thought about learning to felt a teddy bear, make your own cutlery or perhaps weave a basket? Well, if not the chances are you are now! So, good news summer school is currently in session at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester. They run different workshops every weekend, a great way to learn a new skill.

Pick your own food

Are you tired of the supermarket? Do you ever get peckish mid dog walk and wonder what you could scoff down in your immediate environment? You are in luck, this Sunday Blenheim Palace is running a summer foraging course. Over three hours you’ll walk around the palace’s stunning grounds learning how to identify what plants, flowers and fungi are edible and which ones are poisonous. Plus at the end of the day, they’ll give you a foraged soup and a glass of elderflower champagne.

Bubbles & Boards

And tonight with the drizzle, we think the wisest thing to do is to hide away from the outside world in the Maytime Inn for our Bubbles & Boards offer. We will give you 25% off of any bottle of English sparkling wine when you purchase any sharing board. It’s the perfect way to catch up with friends or have a romantic evening with a partner.

See you soon!
